Padraic C. Hughes, Principal

Padraic is a certified Search Team Leader, Tracking Technician, Swift Water Rescue Technician and Emergency Medical Technician. He is an adjunct search and rescue instructor for the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), the group training officer for the Search and Rescue Tracking Institute (SARTI), and is an active responder and member of the Shenandoah Mountain Rescue Group and the Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference, as well as a life member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad.

Padraic is the Program Manager for the Standardized Tracking Evaluation Program (STEP), a comprehensive, objective based training, evaluating and credentialing program for visual human tracking . He has been involved in search and rescue, and outdoor safety and leadership since 1983.

Kevin C Hughes is a professional kayaker, skier, climber and international caver.  He has worked in the wilderness environment as a guide and instructor since 1975.  He is a certified American Canoe Association Level 4 White Water Kayak, Level 4 White Water Solo and Tandem Canoe, Level 3 Coastal Kayak, and River Rescue Instructor. He is a Level 3 Swift Water Rescue Technician.  He is a member of the National Ski Patrol, a certified Outdoor Emergency Care Technician, Professional Patroller, Mountain Travel and Rescue, and High/Low Angle Rescue.  He is a Professional Team Development Course/High Ropes Manager and Facilitator.  He is a certified American Mountain Guide Top Rope Instructor.  He is a National Cave Rescue Level 1 Rescuer, Mine and Confined Space Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician.  He has been the Site and Sustainability Coordinator of the Outdoor Education Center of For Love of Children since 2005.
